Marc also had this to say: "...and Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 2.49 million; A18-49: #5, 1.0/ 3), which would be a good match with Smallville next season should the network care to beef up Friday. With The Vampire Diaries a success, my suggestion would be to try something new in the Thursday 9 p.m. time period next season."
I'm not against moving SPN to Fridays next season (because I'm sure it will be SPN's last and there's no harm in it) and I'd LOVE to see what CW thinks it can put on Thursdays that would pull even a fraction of SPN's numbers against that brutal competition. Good luck with that, Ostroff!

Anyway glad to see we went up. We needed it. I am not against moving to Friday, nothing else is on after Smallville anyway, and they were a good match before.

Nice icon! LOL!
I'm glad it went up, too, especially since last week was so awful, when it was a fantastic episode.
As for Friday, SV is doing better on Friday than CW thought it would do, and if you pair SPN back up with it again it'll be a strong night. But besides, next year (providing we get a renewal) will most definitely be SPN's last, what with the boys contracts expiring after next year, so there's honestly no harm in putting it on Friday. We've gotten pummeled for four years on Thursday. Let some other show take the beating!

I've struggled on and off all season, and that drives me crazy because I love the show and love the boys. I'm holding faith in Kripke's "master plan" and that season 5 will be the culmination of what he has been building for the last 5 years. And at the risk of getting lynched for saying it out loud, I wonder given the ups and downs of ratings and fan response this year if a season 6 truly does make sense. As much as I don't want to see Jared and Jensen leaves our weekly tv screens, I'd rather see the show go out with a bang than a whimper. Just my two cents.

As for a season six, I'm all for it, because of what Eric said - that he'd go small, more intimate. Get back to the "saving people, hunting things" that made this show so successful in the first place. Which is what I want. I'm just done with the angels and demons and apocalypse. I want the boys back on the road fighting ghosts and monsters again.

is not a complain, no! I'm happy!! very!! but is it a sure thing by now?

The only good I thing I see if Fox keeps Fringe on at 9 on Thursdays I can watch that live if SPN moves to Fridays. I kinda don't like the idea of them being on on Fridays though.

I totally agree about Fringe, because that's been driving me crazy all season.

Only Dean is immune, because (as Famine tells him), “You’re not hungry, because inside, you’re already dead.” We know that’s not entirely true. His tearful solitary prayer (“I need some help, please”) was Jensen Ackles at his emotive best.

And regarding your statement above about SPN and SV on Fridays next season - Ken Tucker at EW seems to agree with you:
Oh yes, my suggestion: Watching Smallville on Friday and Supernatural on Thursday, I thought, why the hell doesn’t the CW pair up these two shows on one night, as they used to be? Vampire Diaries may be more successful (in terms of numbers) than both, but I’ll bet ratings would increase for those two other shows if you brought their fan-bases together again; Vampire can hold its own by now, anyway. (This assumes, of course, that both Supernatural and Smallville will be back next season.)
Entire article here: http://watching-tv.ew.com/2010/02/13/smallville-season-9-episode-12/
And I saw this article on Screenrant (referencing another similar article at THR) about shows on the bubble and whether they would return next year:
Smallville
Chance of returning: 85%
•After nine years, The CW tried to dump this superhero show into a Friday timeslot to die. Too bad that nobody told the fans. With this season bringing in the ratings and a two-hour television movie event, not even Kryptonite can bring Smallville down.
Supernatural
Chance of returning: 85%
•The only thing that’s going to stop the Winchester brothers from coming back will be creator Eric Kripke. With season 5 marking the end of the planned storyline, the future of the show remains uncertain. Still, I’d be willing to bet that they’ll be back for at least a couple more seasons. Especially if The CW has anything to say about it.

And at THR:
Smallville” & “Supernatural” — The nine-year-old “Smallville” contains an alarming lack of texting debutantes so naturally the CW dumped it on Fridays. Like Krypton crystal thrown into the snow, it bloomed in the wasteland and gave The CW a reliable performer on TV’s toughest night. “Supernatural” made a solid companion for “Vampire Diaries.” Both: 85%

And finally, I wanted to point out an amazing new songvid. You make these things, Barb - how does one make fast cuts like the ones in this vid? Amazing work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_fyhjDvsy4
Glad to be back, Barb, loading up your LJ with useless dreck! RL has been a bear. Hope all is well with you. Have you finished your long story yet? Because as much as it is anticipated, boy, I would love one of your wonderful, moving, gen epilogues to "My Bloody Valentine" about right now . . . . While he's waiting for God to respond (and I think He will in some way), I think Dean should look a little closer to home for help in the meantime, and Sammy needs help in return. Boy, I wish it was time for one of your fic request posts! We do have a 6-week hiatus to fill . . . .
I bet you are wishing right now that I'd stayed away!

I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and answer you back. :-)
Barb, Matt Roush mentioned "My Bloody Valentine" in his weekly review column (my favorite parts bolded in articles below):
I'm so glad that Matt is finally really on board with SPN.
His tearful solitary prayer (“I need some help, please”) was Jensen Ackles at his emotive best.
I couldn't agree more! I know Jensen would rather be shooting things and driving fast, but he's SO damn good at these scenes. I want to cry each and everytime Dean does.
And regarding your statement above about SPN and SV on Fridays next season - Ken Tucker at EW seems to agree with you:
I must admit I'm a bit worried right now though, about this, because SV hasn't been renewed yet. If it doesn't and SPN gets abandoned to Fridays all by itself it really will be a disaster. I only thought it was a good idea when I thought for sure that CW would pair them up again. So keep your fingers crossed that SV comes back next year, too!
After nine years, The CW tried to dump this superhero show into a Friday timeslot to die. Too bad that nobody told the fans. With this season bringing in the ratings and a two-hour television movie event, not even Kryptonite can bring Smallville down.
This is why I hope that CW will keep SV, at least one more year to help us out. It really is doing way better than they expected on Friday.
Still, I’d be willing to bet that they’ll be back for at least a couple more seasons. Especially if The CW has anything to say about it.
Hmm, might have to disagree with him on this point. With Jensen and Jared's contracts up at the end of next season, there won't be a season seven. As much as we want them to stay, both boys are ready to move on. :-(
Smallville” & “Supernatural” — The nine-year-old “Smallville” contains an alarming lack of texting debutantes so naturally the CW dumped it on Fridays.
Ha! I like the way that was worded. Seems like only SV and SPN don't fit that mold on the CW, eh?
And finally, I wanted to point out an amazing new songvid. You make these things, Barb - how does one make fast cuts like the ones in this vid? Amazing work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_fyhjDvsy4
Wow! Awesome! How's it done? By having the patience of a saint! LOL!
Glad to be back, Barb, loading up your LJ with useless dreck!
LOL! Hardly dreck, Deborah!
Have you finished your long story yet?
I just did this week!
Because as much as it is anticipated, boy, I would love one of your wonderful, moving, gen epilogues to "My Bloody Valentine" about right now . . . .
Well, I can't promise that, but how about that long awaited "outsider POV" gen story you asked me about ages ago? I finally figured out how to do it and it'll basically be an epilogue to the entire first season. :-)
I bet you are wishing right now that I'd stayed away!
Ha! Never! Glad you're back!
Needless to say, I would love it!
Oh, Barb, I can't tell you how happy this would make me! Thank you!
