Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been very chatty lately, just posting SPN news blurbs as I find them and not really talking about RL things.

I always get like this when I start writing a new story. I get really far inside my head, really focused on my writing and I tend to ignore LJ and my emails, etc. Oh! But before I forget, many thanks to deanvica23 for the belated birthday gifts. I love the magazine and the drawing, sweetie!

Speaking of my new Jensen/Jared story, I've now written my longest story EVER in the 15+ years I've been writing fanfic. And I'm not even done yet!

I just passed the 34,000 word mark, my previous best being just over 30,000 for my second J2 fireman story, Playing with Fire. I still can't believe I've written this much! And I've still got two and a half pages left to my outline!

I've really worked hard on this, and if it completely bombs and no one likes it I'm pretty sure I'll be totally devastated. [sigh]

I hope I can get it finished in about a week, then off to beta and then I need to finish the artwork for the banner. Let me tell you, Jared looks smokin' hot in an L.A.P.D. uniform. ;-)

Speaking of long stories, I'm curious about something, about how all of you like to read them.

Do you think 40,000 words is too much to post in one day and would prefer one part a day gets posted, or are you the impatient kind and would rather have the whole story posted at once?

I know I always kind of OVER comment, but I reallywoul;d rather that stories be posted in parts so that I can comment without leaving any really great plot twist, character insight, turn of phrase, etc, out.

Funny you should ask lol. I've also got a new story, 45,000+ words that I haven't quite finished yet and I was wondering how to post when it gets to that point. Personally? I'd prefer to have the whole story at once so I could read as little or as much as time allows at any given time. But I'll be interested in what your poll shows. :)

I like long stories posted in parts. This way I can comment on each part. Also I may not have the time to sit and read a long story and if I have to divide it in parts,I forget where I left off.

Hey Barb,although I am a little impatient sometimes ;o) I wouldn't mind reading it in parts every day,as long as I know it's a finished story and not a WIP because there's nothing I hate more than a good story that's never gonna be finished. Also I don't think you'll have to worry about people not liking it because I loved all your stories so far and I don't think that this one will be any different. Just looking forward to reading it soon. *Hugs*

PS: - maybe I should mention that I HATE evil cliffies that keep me worrying the whole night,but you would never do something like that,right?

Oh, that's my one rule about writing stories - NEVER post them without them being complete. WIP's drive me crazy!

But I admit to occasionally being the queen of evil cliffhangers. Heh, heh. Gotta leave my readers wanting more! LOL!

Yaay for you having a new fic! And nice long one at that!

I like having it posted all at once. A) I don't start getting it mixed up with something else. B) I don't get frustrated wanting to know what happens next.

Though my sleep schedule would sometimes prefer them split up. lol But really though, if people don't want to read that much at once, they can pause between parts themselves. No one needs to have novels split up for them, why have fic?

I can see if it's 100,000 words or something, putting the first half up while the second is with the beta or something. But other than that, splitting them up has never made much sense to me. Not when it's all done and not a WIP.

I'm so looking forward to reading it! I don't really care how it's posted as long as it isn't a WIP. I tend to wait until a story is completely posted until I read it, so I voted for all at once, but it's not a big issue as long as I know the rest is coming. However, when I post (which I do only when the story is completed) I do post in chapters, because my stories tend to be like the old episodic stories with cliffhangers. If you like to rev up the excitement that way, one part per day might be best.

Because I'm so busy with life/work and not online much, I open complete stories in tabs to read later. If I see a story is being posted in parts, I automatically skip it; I'll never go back and read all the parts. My loss, I'm sure, but that's how it is.

Oh lord, no. I've never in my life written a WIP. In fact, this story idea has been in my head for nearly a year because I never start writing until I've got the entire thing laid out. WIPs drive me mad!

See, that's how I've always done things as well. But the overwhelming majority who answered my poll preferred that everything get posted the same day, so I think I'll try doing what the masses want this time. :-)

You know, I did actually consider signing up for Big Bang when I started writing this last month, but then changed my mind. Sometimes I think stories get lost in the craziness that is Big Bang, because there's so many massive stories being posted every single day that I'm pretty sure people start to skip over some. So I decided to let my story just stand on its own in February. :-)
