I don't think they necessarily cancel each other out ... if Dean can come back from the dead, surely an angel can. If one archangel took him out, might another one revive Castiel? And I think that Dean taking Castiel out could provide some very poignant moments, as well as fun ones.
The only thing I'm not looking forward to about the upcoming season is its end....
