It really is sad, especially when MediaWest was the one event I looked forward to each year. :-( And I'm really bummed about EMC2 as well. I'm hoping they'll be able to put one on again next year, because last year was so much fun!
And aww, man, you're going to KAZ Con?? Now I'm really bummed I can't go! :-( I had a fantastic time at the last one, so I have no doubt you'll enjoy yourself. :-)
