Yes, I do think that a higher power was responsible for the time you got to share with him, and I hope that will comfort you.
I generally don't put much stock in these sorts of things, but in this case I really do believe that something or someone had a helping hand in getting me up to Wisconsin that weekend, and it does comfort me. :-)
