The weekend wrap-up
Jan. 16th, 2017 08:43 amUgh. Monday already? Why does the weekend go so fast and the work week so slow?
I have no problem admitting I was a total slug for the last two days. Never even left the house! Not that I wanted to, since it’s typical cold and dreary January weather here.
Caught up on a bunch of TV on Saturday and even took a nap. I hadn’t been sleeping well last week, so I needed it.
Speaking of TV - is anyone watching “Beyond” on Freeform and/or Hulu? It’s been on for a few weeks and I’m really enjoying it. It’s got shades of X-Files written all over it.
Sunday was laundry and a reading day. I got some books for Christmas/my birthday and finally had a chance to sit down with them. I read “Agent of Chaos” an X-Files book set back when Mulder was still a teenager. Didn’t know how much I’d like it since Scully wasn’t around, but it was really good! If they do any other pre-XF books about Mulder I’d love it if they’d explore his time in the FBI when he was working in the BSU as a profiler.
Finished that one and started “Vengeance” a book based on Arrow. It’s nothing like I expected, as it’s told from the POV of three of the bad guys and not from Oliver’s at all, so it’s kind of odd.
I’m also working on my own writing, outlining the third Shadow Unit book. And I recently opened up my own storefront to sell my ebooks: https://payhip.com/jamielynnmiller
I love it because 95% of the profits go to me, instead of 60% selling through Amazon, etc. So I’m trying to drive traffic there.
And Connor and Shawn from my Shadow Unit books were just chosen as Favorite Couple of 2016 by a prominent gay book review site! I was thrilled!
On the flip side, though, I’m now involved in a class action lawsuit against All Romance Ebooks, who out of the blue completely shut down and are refusing to pay all of us authors our full royalties due for an entire quarter. I’m out a hell of a lot of money and I’m furious. So about 50 of us banded together and are taking her to court. I’m sure she’s surprised as hell that we’d get organized and sue her, believing she’d just get off scott-free like so many other ebook publishers have. Not this time! We’ve had enough of losing our hard earned money so that thieves like her can live off of it. We know we won’t see a dime, but forcing her into having to liquidate her assets and into bankruptcy is the justice we’re seeking. Wish us luck!
So that’s what’s been going on with me the last few days. How was YOUR weekend?
