I went from the highest high to the lowest low in the span of a single day.

After being completely and utterly burned out and stressed out at work, I decided to take Friday off. It was then I realized I hadn't had a day off since New Years Day! No wonder I was fried.

Taking the day off turned out to be the best thing I've done in AGES. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. I had things planned for John and I all day long and they went off without a hitch!

We had breakfast at Wild Berry, a place we've been wanting to eat at for ages but you can't get near it on the weekends. Friday was perfect! I had amazing cinnamon roll pancakes and John had a wild mushroom omelet. Food was delicious. Then we went to my comic book store to pick up my monthly stash. Headed home after that where I dropped John off and went and got my hair cut. In and out of there in a flash because no one was there at 11:30 am. :-)  We ate lunch at home, I read all my comics, then we headed off to Round 1 to play billiards later that afternoon. They were playing the best music EVER in there! Everything from the 80's and every classic rock song that's ever been on Supernatural. :-) I'm thinking it gave me the edge and I beat John two games to one. Woot! Dinner at Red Robin was next. Again great food and great service, too. John tried their new prickly pear lemonade. Very tasty! Stopped back in at Round 1 before we left the mall and played a spontaneous game of air hockey. Which I also won. Ha! We were pretty tired by the end of the night but I also felt SO good and recharged.

Then that all changed first thing Saturday morning. John woke up and discovered that sometime in the middle of the night our hot water tank burst, flooding our laundry room and hallway with 40 gallons of water. It was a fucking mess.

Normally it wouldn't be a big deal to just shut off the water going into the tank, leaving the water running to the rest of the house. But oh no! The valve was stripped and just kept spinning and spinning, forcing John to shut off the water to the WHOLE HOUSE. So from basically midnight on Friday until 1:00 pm on Sunday we had NO water. We were absolutely miserable. No showers, no running toilets, dishes were piling up, etc. I had to go to the grocery store and buy 10 one gallon jugs of water so that we could at least brush our teeth and use some to fill up the toilets for the next day and a half.

We had to go back and forth with my landlord over this ASAP, with her coming out and a plumber Saturday afternoon for him to assess the situation and figure out what kind of tank to buy. He came back at 9:00 am Sunday and it took him 4 hours to remove the old tank and install the new one. I took the hottest shower EVER after he was gone! Then we had to do laundry and wash dishes and clean the toilets and mop out the laundry room, etc.

So yeah, of course life had to kick me in the teeth because I'm not allowed to have a good day and was punished with two horrible ones right after it. :-(

How was YOUR weekend?

There was only one thing he knew for certain would work when the memories got the better of him. Alcohol. And lots of it. )
