John and I were home-bodies this weekend. After all the running around I did last weekend it was nice to take it easy.

We went to dinner at Red Lobster on Friday night. Despite it being busy every single day of the week it's going to be closing at the end of the month. Thank you Darden for shutting them all down despite how profitable some of them are. Really pisses me off. At least it was a really delicious last meal.

Spent Saturday doing projects around the house. John wanted to replace the metal blinds over the kitchen window with the wooden plantation blinds that are in the rest of the kitchen. That turned out to be a much bigger project than we were expecting. Yikes!

Also on Saturday I finally got to deposit my refunded security deposit check. My jackass of a former landlord post-dated the check three weeks out. I was honestly expecting it to bounce, since the house is still empty and he has no one else's security deposit to give to us. But I got confirmation that all the money made it into my account. I hope he's having a complete fit now that he lost that and rent for July. HA!

On Sunday we were supposed to have switched out the chandelier in the dining room and the main light in the kitchen, but John misplaced the brackets we need in the move. He swears he knows where to look out in the garage and we'll take care of it tonight instead.

So mainly I just relaxed. Did a lot of reading (two Doctor Who books and half a Torchwood one), sitting in my recliner next to the open window with a breeze blowing in off the lake. We took a walk around the lake on Sunday. It's about a mile and a half. I'm looking forward to getting myself a bike, hopefully this week.

I also did a lot of work on my next ebook, a sci-fi m/m romance set about 150 years in the future. Feels good to be writing again. Hopefully when I'm done with this one I can finally get started on my Coast Guard one.

Speaking of men in uniform, I'm watching the most bizarre cop show from Canada called "19-2". It's filled with the most unlikeable characters ever! They're all cops, right? Let's see, one is a wife beater, one is an alcoholic, one is suffering from PTSD, one is gay and lusting after her very straight partner, one arrested his own father and one is having an affair with another cop. It's also full of strange flashbacks and hallucinations from both main characters. Half the time I don't know what's going on! But it's so different that it's like a train crash I can't look away from! LOL! Though I'm beginning to see why it apparently only got one season. :-)

Since I had some time on my hands I decided to do a little baking and made some red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing both on top and as a filling inside. YUM! Don't they look good?

So how was YOUR weekend?
