Just call me Dirty Harriet

Happy Friday, everyone! And a pretty good Friday it is for me - my boss is off and we got our quarterly bonuses today. Woot! And John and I are going to go see Joss Whedon's movie, Much Ado About Nothing after work tonight. Really looking forward to it, since it's gotten rave reviews. Only one single theater out here in the Chicago suburbs is showing it. They've only had it for a week and today is the last showing.

So anyway, wanted to share this pic with you guys. John and I got this Groupon deal for a gun range that just opened up near us. Only $50 for the two of us for a safety lesson, then target practice with three different guns, with 2 full magazines each. We had a great time! We're familiar with firearms (we own a .22 rifle) and we used to go shooting all the time until all the ranges near us closed down. So we were excited to check this place out.

We ended up shooting a .22 pistol, a 9mm and a .45 caliber handgun. I didn't have any problems with the .22 or the 9 mm, but damn, it was all I could do to hang on to the .45 because of the freaking recoil on that thing! Though I did get a bulls eye on my first shot with it. :-)

Even though I got the marksman award in one of my police academy classes, John ended up the overall winner with more bulls eyes than me. But that's only because he could control the .45 better than me! Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)

I'm definitely glad we went and we'll be bringing the rifle back for sure, and I'd like to rent the 9mm, get some practice in with that one.
