Hello everyone and welcome to Episode One of my summer TV discussions. :-)

Since most of our favorite shows are on hiatus and after the success of my TV poll the other day, I thought I'd bring up a different show every other day or so for some friendly discussion - what you like about it, what you don't, whatever comes to mind. And who knows, if you're not already watching, this might entice you to!

My friend [livejournal.com profile] cadia58 oh so subtly suggested that I start with Grimm. Gosh, twist my arm!

As soon as I heard about the concept of Grimm I was intrigued. But also wary. Genre shows have horrible track records on the "big three" networks and I was worried that I'd really like it and then NBC would pull the plug after four episodes. Plus the fact it was already doomed on a Friday night AND it was up against both Supernatural and Fringe. My poor DVR had a nervous breakdown every Friday night trying to record all three of those!

I couldn't have been happier when Grimm turned out to be NBC's biggest hit out of all their new shows, plus the very early renewal for season two. Sweet!

Ok, so - what do I love about Grimm? The characters for starters. Nick and Monroe rock it SO HARD. :-) And really, there isn't anyone who I don't like. Hank, Juliette, Sgt. Wu, Rosalee, Captain Renard. And that's pretty rare for me to like everyone in an ensemble cast.

While we're on the subject of characters - WHAT IS UP WITH THE CAPTAIN?? LOL! I mean, WHAT is he? WHO is he? I was really hoping for some answers in the season finale about him but we got squat. I'm so intrigued by him. If he's some sort of Wesen, he's darn good at keeping his true appearance from Nick.

Then there's the storylines. I love that we're finding out about Grimms just as Nick is. His aunt's trailer is freaking awesome. Love it when Nick took Monroe there for the first time and Monroe was like a kid in a candy store!

Good continuity throughout with what happened with Nick's parents and how all that came together in the season finale. Great twist with the Woman in Black!

The only nitpick I have with the stories is - is Portland the new Sunnydale Hellmouth? :-) I mean, wow, that's a whole hell of a lot of Wesen in one town! LOL! So sometimes that's a little unbelievable, but they're forgiven because they make the creatures look so cool and there are so many different kinds.

So yeah, Grimm turned out to be my favorite new show of last season. :-) I get a kick out of it being filmed in Portland because I've been there and keep pointing at the screen - "I saw that and that and that…"

Now it's your turn! Sound off about Grimm!
