Another Monday? Already? [sigh]
May. 24th, 2010 10:13 amHave you ever felt completely overwhelmed? I'm at that point right now and it's totally my fault.
I'm reading/editing/giving feedback on three stories for three friends, all at the same time. I'm also doing art for a fandom friend and graduation invitations for an RL friend.
While all this is going on, I'm trying to get through MY edits that my editor has sent back on my new ebook - all 209 pages of it. PLUS I'm trying to get my own artwork done for the cover of the ebook.
I've also got 40+ comments that I need to answer back. And my vacation to Colorado is coming up in a few weeks and I've got things to take care of for that.
I'm just...I'm frazzled.
And like I said, it's all my fault because I don't know the word "no". But it really means a lot when my friends come to me and ask for my advice or help or creative talents. They could've asked anyone, but they asked me. And I just can't turn them down, no matter how busy I am. And it's not like it's a chore to read someone's story or do a piece of slash artwork. :-) I love it! I just wish I could pace things a little better.
So on Saturday I buckled down and worked pretty much all damn day and got everything done but answering back all my LJ comments, which I'll get to today.
I rewarded myself on Sunday by being a complete slug, which worked out well because it was so damn HOT outside I wasn't going anywhere. Ended up watching the season finales of CSI, The Mentalist and Fringe off the DVR.
After lunch and taking a minute to help John hang some pictures around the house we've been meaning to get to for months, I parked myself in the recliner and read for the remainder of the day. I read a Hardy Boys book, a Star Wars book, and got halfway through On Fire 2: Still Burning by Drew Zachary (lots of hot firemen sex! Woot!)
I also finished book four in the Cal Leandros series, Deathwish. If you're a Supernatural fan and you're not reading this series, you should be! I found this book to be particularly interesting because the previous three were told completely from Cal's first person POV, but in Deathwish, the chapters alternate between Cal's POV and his brother Niko's. I thought that was a great decision on Rob Thurman's part. It really showed just how deep the brother's bond is. I was hoping this was going to continue in the fifth book, but based on the reviews on Amazon the chapters alternate between Cal and Catcher instead. I'm already bummed knowing that. She had a good formula there and I wish she hadn't of changed it. :-(
So here it is, Monday already. It should be a good day, because the boss is gone until Wednesday. :-)
How was YOUR weekend, my dear flist?
