Ahoy there, mateys!
Oct. 13th, 2009 08:06 amHey folks,
Didn't mean to drop off the face of the earth there, but I haven't been on the computer since Friday afternoon. Why? Because I had houseguests over the weekend!
My wonderful, sweet friends,
captainogondor and
dairwendan, came to stay with me and the hubby on Saturday and Sunday. They came up from Indiana to go with myself and
charityflint to the Pirates exhibit at the Chicago Field Museum. The exhibit was on the Whydah, a slave ship turned pirate ship that went down off the coast of Cape Cod and was discovered in 1984. Till this day artifacts are still being unearthed.
It was an amazing exhibit with a TON of artifacts and a lot of information to read. The only thing that ticked me off was that you weren't allowed to take pictures. That's why I brought my camera!
So because we couldn't take pics inside the exhibit, we made our own outside of it! LOL!

Here's the little plastic pirate I bought, along with a gold coin, treasure chest and pirate map

We all had a great weekend together, despite the traffic jams we found ourselves in and the Hall of Gems at the museum being closed AGAIN. But we had fantastic conversations ("I don't care where you bite") and many, many laughs. It was hard to say goodbye on Sunday night. :-(
Oh! I nearly forgot to mention the awesome gifts my friends brought for me and my two cats. First, there were very cute Halloween kitchen towels, and both of my cats got "sniff socks" filled with premium catnip, grown in
captainogondor's mother's backyard! They were SO high the entire weekend. :-)
And then there were these adorably funny scarecrows that were picked up in "Burkettsville" Indiana on the way up. [snerk] You can just see the back end of the Impala behind them.

After all the fun and excitement of the weekend, I ended up with a migraine Monday morning and was home sick in bed all day yesterday. Blech.
But I'm up and functioning again today and have a ton of catching up to do. Better get to it! Talk to you all later! :-)
