I'm baa-aack!
May. 28th, 2008 12:21 pmDid y'all miss me? :-)
I was hoping to post yesterday, but ended up in a post-con sleep deprived coma for most of the day. *g*
So all in all, Media West was a rousing success, despite the con organizers still being clueless idiots, even after running this thing for the past 28 years. [sigh]
But it's the people I go to this con for, not so much for the events and panels anymore, and I had a BLAST hanging out with my "crew" from California and Canada and Indiana. There's just nothing better than hanging out with your friends for six days, some of whom, like
khek,
partners4life,
mayphoenix,
sylvia_bond, and so many others that I may only get to see once a year.
The con itself seemed very small to me this year, attendance wise, so I count myself very lucky that myself and my best buddy,
charityflint, did so amazingly well selling our SPN-related merchandise. We came home with a lot of money in our pockets!
The great thing about being a room dealer is that you'll get a bunch of folks in there looking at the merchandise and someone will make a comment about SPN and the next thing you know, you've got a room full of people discussing. :-) It can sometimes be better than one of the formal panels at the con! I can't tell you how many people walked in and immediately started talking about the season finale, and Dean in particular. Folks seem equally divided on their opinions about him and I loved hearing everyone's reasons.
There weren't very many door decorations this year, either, but the ones that were there were brilliant! Especially
khek's "What's really in the trunk of the Impala?" I laughed myself silly!
I swear I gained 10 lbs while I was up there, since eating out for breakfast, lunch AND dinner is a major social event. :-) It's always amusing to walk into a restaurant and tell the hostess that there's fourteen people in your party. Ha!
I re-connected with several old-time Sentinel folks, which was great, and even did a special order Sentinel pillowcase for one. :-)
So yeah, another Media West over and done, which saddens me. You look forward to this for an entire year, and then suddenly in the blink of an eye, six days have passed and you're saying good-bye. [sigh] I miss all of you already!!
So that was my week. I hope all of you had a good Memorial Day holiday, too!
