Another year older
Dec. 28th, 2007 07:46 amWell, today's the day. :-)
I turned 36 this morning and thankfully I don't feel any different than 35. Hell, I don't even feel 30! Which is a good thing, when I think about how I'm creeping up on 40. Yikes!
Anyway, I both love and hate my birthday. I love it because hey, it's my birthday! It's the one day out of the WHOLE year that's just for me. What's not to love about that?? People decorate your desk and bring in food and take you out to lunch and dinner and give you gifts. It's great!
But I hate it because of when it is. Us late December babies really have it rough. We're constantly forgotten in the rush of Christmas and New Years and we always get the famous "Here's one gift for your birthday AND Christmas!" I swear to god next year I'm giving all those people, whose b-days are in the spring and summer, usually, ONE gift on their b-day for both holidays and see how they like it. [grumble] And nine times out of ten, living here in Chicago, my b-day is in the middle of a blizzard. Today is no exception. We've had mild weather here for awhile now but guess what? We're getting six inches today. Which means we won't be able to go out to lunch and I'll probably have to cancel my dinner reservations at Melting Pot and sit home and have leftover pizza. [sigh]
So yeah, sometimes the bad outweighs the good but I try and stay positive. Like when I came in this morning I saw that the Birthday Elves had visited my desk and it looks like a party store threw up on it. :-) I brought in my famous Milky Way cake (yes, there are six melted candy bars in the batter) for everyone to enjoy later and right now I'm blasting Steve Carlson in the office since I'm the only one here. :-)
I've already gotten b-day wishes and awesome Jensen pics from my LJ friends, too! Thank you, ladies!!
And then tomorrow (weather willing) I'm getting together with
charityflint,
anakin415,
asyouleft,
dizzycadence,
researchgrrrl and
adelheide for dinner and a movie.
Then there's the icing on the cake, as a co-worker of mine just sent me this image via email:

Now THAT'S the way to start my birthday! LOL!
