Kinda rushed this morning, so I'll get my own thoughts on Hunted down in a bit, but in the meantime wanted to get up Tina Charles's review of it up now, to start some discussion. :-)

As always, she did a great job!

ETA: My thoughts about the episode are now in the comments

From Marc Berman at MediaWeek:

http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/newsletters/proginsider/index.jsp

At 9 p.m., Grey’s Anatomy on ABC reigned supreme with a 15.5/23 -- 82 percent ahead of a repeat of competing CSI on CBS (8.5/12) and 49 percent above lead-in Ugly Betty. Third was NBC’s Scrubs (5.0/ 7) and 30 Rock (4.2/ 6), followed by the CW’s Supernatural (2.6/ 4), and Fox’s soon-to-conclude The O.C. (2.4/ 4)

~~~~~~
Well, at least we beat The O.C. and this was the best ratings SPN's had in a few weeks, so I'm happy!
~~~~~

UPDATE: Well, so much for my good mood. Just saw that the fast nationals were released, and O.C. has beat us, and now Marc has branded SPN "a loser", even though 3.21 million IS better than we've gotten in the last four episodes:

Also in the 9 p.m. hour was Fox’s soon-to-conclude The O.C. (Viewers: #4, 3.80 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 4) and the CW’s Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 3.21 million; A18-49: #5, 1.4/ 3). Sorry Supernatural, but retention of just 69 percent in total viewers and 70 percent among adults 18-49 out of Smallville (opposite the repeat of CSI) lands you in the loser’s circle for the first time this season.

The CW will NEVER realize that they're KILLING Supernatural by keeping it on Thursdays, will they?

So I was flip-flopping again on my feelings towards the ratings for Hunted. At first I was like "Cool! Much better than the last several weeks!" Then Marc Berman had to go and call it a "loser" for the first time this season, even with the improved numbers, which totally bummed me out.

Then over at the Programming Insider forums, someone asked Marc what the odds are that SPN will be back next season and he said: "I am leaning towards it returning, inferno. Since it does normally fit well out of Smallville in a tough time period I doubt the CW would find a better fit."

So that made me feel better, if if it did just come from the guy who said "loser".

And about that comment, I also posted the ratings info over at [livejournal.com profile] supernatural_tv, where [livejournal.com profile] fairyd123 said: Berman only branded it a loser this week because of the low retention rates - normally we retain a slightly higher percentage of Smallville's sudience and that figure dipped slightly this week. I think Supernatural will be fine - its consistently above 3 million and both One Tree Hill and Veronica Mars have fallen below the 3 million mark this season.

Which intrigued me, because I didn't know that OTH and VM were below three million, which makes me feel a whole hell of a lot better!

And speaking of the three million mark, [livejournal.com profile] _ilacemychucks was kind enough to post this breakdown since the beginning of the season:

Episode 1 (9/28/06) - Viewers: 3.93 million
Episode 2 (10/05/06) - Viewers: 3.34 million
Episode 3 (10/12/06) - Viewers: 3.78 million
Episode 4 (10/19/06) - Viewers: 3.29 million
Episode 5 (10/26/06) - Viewers: 3.65 million
Episode 6 (11/02/06) - Viewers: 3.38 million
Episode 7 (11/09/06) - Viewers: 3.19 million
Episode 8 (11/16/06) - Viewers: 3.16 million
Episode 9 (12/07/06) - Viewers: 3.20 million
Episode 10 (01/11/07) - Viewers: 3.21 million

Yeah, we've fallen since In My Time of Dying, but Hunted also improved on the previous three weeks, so I've fallen back into the "I'm happy" camp, when all's said and done. :-)

CW just needs to keep up with the kick ass promos like for Croatoan and Hunted!
