agt_spooky: (SN-Sexy Ghostbusters)
I got the new Entertainment Weekly magazine yesterday and couldn't believe it when I flipped to the TV section and there at the top of the page was an article about Supernatural!

My joy was short lived, however, when I actually read it. I'm not real thrilled. Here's the article...

Bruce Campbell takes on "Supernatural"

The first season of Supernatural featured the brothers Winchester, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) - and yes, it is a prerequisite to give heroes a cool last name - on a mission to find out why their mother died under strange circumstances. The opening sequence for the Hell House episode (March 30) was very Evil Dead (with an almost identical cabin), following a group of teenagers exploring an abandoned abode in the woods for no good reason. It's nice to know that elements used in horror films 25 years ago are alive and well today.

For the most part I had fun watching, but the show is too damn conservative for what it purports to be. While Supernatural is about scary things, its pace is too earthly - if not downright gravitational - to be frightening. With regard to the lead actors, my Poser Meter was reading a steady 25% (100% would be out of control), and while their style may be "natural", these handsome thespians not only failed their chemistry test, they also seemed more bored than afraid. I'd like to remind all modern-day actors it's okay to look at each other occasionally during a scene.

Excuse me?? Failed their chemistry test?? Just what two actors were you watching, Bruce?? Grrr... I just didn't think this was all that favorable of a review.

And I'm wondering why EW chose to run this review now, when the season is already over. Oh, and there was a small pic of Sam and Dean from Route 666, watching the body burn next to the "ghost truck".
