Ahh, really? I really didn't want to be right about him being dead!

So maybe he died of some sorta normal thing, like cancer or something? Or got hit by a car, or had an accident at work?
All good guesses. I think I'm going to go with some kind of an illness or maybe a heart attack?
I tend to go with the disease/accident thing, something to show Dean that even though his Dad never got into hunting, he still died,
Right, right, I agree. But still, how terrible for Dean in this reality - to gain his mother but to have still lost his dad.
So maybe he appears in a flashback? Maybe he appears to Dean
Man, I am totally befuddled as to how they're going to work him into this episode. Who knows, maybe at the very end of this episode, after Dean gets back to the real world something happens that is a springboard taking us into the finale - Sam has a vision of John, perhaps? Kinda along the lines of the end of Asylum where Dad calls at the very end. It had nothing to do with Asylum itself, you know?
