Go back and listen to what the Native American man says "On a night when the Sun and the Mooon share the sky as equals". That's just an eclipse, right? Where do you get that it's all night?

I thought he was referring to the spring equinox. Two times a year, in the spring and the fall, night and day are almost the same length, i.e., there is 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. If I recall my science class correctly, this occurs when the sun crosses the equator or some such thing. There is a spring equinox in March and an autumnal equinox in September. That's what I thought he was referring to.

And I do think they were in the attic all night - or at least from midnight til dawn. I think some time would have passed while they fought the bugs, but once they broke through the roof I think they just huddled together and waited it out.

I need to watch that episode again also!
