We didn't have Jared, but we had each other!

Hi all!

For those who didn't get to make it out to the Fangoria con this weekend in Chicago, thought I'd just say that we missed you! Those of us who were there all gathered at Maxie's inside the hotel today, where we proceeded to take over the upper part of the bar. :-)

Like the subject heading said, we may not have been able to see Jared, but we did get to meet each other and have a blast. At one point there must've been at least 30 of us in the bar - it was great! Folks brought in food (cupcakes, cookies and peanut M&M's) and there were nametags there that we filled out and wore, which was really nice, as we recognized names from here on LJ and we all made new friends.

The scrapbook for Jared turned out AWESOME. Many thanks to Marissa for taking over and taking charge of it. People said the funniest and nicest things to Jared - how much we missed him this weekend. I think he's really gonna love it. Marissa also brought a poloroid camera and snapped pics of all of us to include on our pages of the scrapbook, so Jared could see all the fans that were there for him. Great idea, Marissa!

And surprise, surprise, the autographed photos of Jared did arrive at the con for us and we nearly stampeded people to get in line to get ours. :-) Kudos to Jared for taking the time to do that for us. Love you, Jared!

We ended up being filmed by a guy from Fangoria as we were all gathered in the bar, and we all yelled and cheered for Jared. There's a good possibility that the video of that may become available to us, so keep your fingers crossed.

The bar had a jukebox that we basically took over as well, and proceeded to play as many songs that we could find on there that had been played on Supernatural - many times over. The most hysterical part was when REO Speedwagon came on and suddenly all 30 of us broke out into song - loudly. Everyone else in the bar was staring at us, but we didn't care as we belted out the lyrics and then clapped and yelled and laughed when the song was over. :-)

One of the funniest things that happened was the bartender agreeing to make us all Purple Nurples - and then delcaring it the drink special of the weekend! You should've heard the fangirl SQUEE. LOL! A bit later and we were all armed with our drinks (full size, not shots) and gave a big toast to season 3 of Supernatural, cause we know it's gonna happen! Down below is the group of us with our drinks. I'm the blonde in the front row with the maroon t-shirt on.

I couldn't stay as long as I would've liked, since a snow/ice storm was rolling into town and I had to drive home, but for the 4 hours I was there I had a really great time. We really did make the best of a bad situation and I'm glad I went.

I hope all of the rest of you that were there at our own little WinCon speak up and tell a story or two as well!

Barb! I'm so glad you and everyone else had such a wonderful time! You haven't aged or changed a bit! I was happy to hear that you decided to go, and that you got your autographed picture of Jared! Any chance you can scan it for us?

By the way, I just saw on an SPN list that there is an article and poll at AM New York (apparently a NYC newspaper) about TV shows in their sophomore years that are "on the bubble" and a poll about which show you most want to remain on the air. SPN is one of the shows, and the article recounts interviews with Kripke and CW that we've pretty much read before in other places. But the poll is going great for SPN - of the 4 shows (SPN, Bones, Close to Home, and How I Met Your Mother), SPN currently has over 92% of the votes! God, I had so much fun today in the bar. I didn't have a purple nurple since I don't drink (I'm the one in the pic holding the popcorn), but it was still awesome every time everyone else in the bar turned to stare at us. And I love that we commandeered that whole back area for like 5 hours. \m/

Glad you got home safely, I just got home like 15 minutes ago. *hugs* It was so good to meet you today!

I was going to come and be there since I had tickets and only live a half hour from the convention center. I got snowed in yesterday from the monstrous ice storm. I wish I had been there, though! It's awesome that you guys had a great time!

Thanks for the awesome (as usual) write up. We did have a great time, didn't we? Much more fun than I was originally thinking we could. It just goes to show how when you get a few fangirls together, you can't help but have a party!

And Purple Nurples? Yeah, not so good. Replace the coconut rum with silver and I think it could be a winner. We'll have to give it a shot sometime soon!
