Let's take it back to the start

On Monday TNT started showing Supernatural from the beginning. I watched the Pilot, Wendigo, Dead in the Water, Phantom Traveler and Bloody Mary.

There was baby!Sam with his emo bangs and his hoodie. There was Dean with his cocky swagger, his amulet and his leather jacket.

There was the "Bitch." "Jerk." and the "Shotgun shuts his cake hole".

There was the caring and concern for one another.

There was why I fell in love with these characters, these boys, from Day One. And that is why I can no longer watch the show. Because all of that? It's been gone for a long, long time. This season has effectively destroyed any love I had left. Yes, characters need to change and grow over the years. But when you have one of them state that they're no longer brothers, the fundamental CORE of the show, why would I want to keep watching?

How far this show has fallen, just like the angels. :-(

Jensen/Dean was the only reason I stuck with it this long. But I hate what they’ve done to his character now, too, so I just can’t watch anymore. :-(

God how I miss the show I loved when I started watching this.

Last fall I rewatched from the beginning to where it was than. Watching the seasons after 5 for the firs time.

To be honest for me it started to go downhill from season 4. Dean annoyed me to no end in most of seasons 4-5. I liked it less and less after that.

At the beginning it was two brothers against the rest of the world, since season 4 they are constantly being separated for whatever reason.

Glad I’m not alone in my opinion on how the show has changed, and not for the better. And you’re right, it did start in seasons 4-5.

I’m sad I’ve stopped watching, but I’ve just hated Sam for too long now to find any enjoyment in the show anymore. There’s just no coming back from how he continually treats Dean, the horrible things he says to him, leaving him in Purgatory, etc. There’s never an apology from him, ever. And I’m also sick of the way they’ve turned Dean into Sam’s whipping boy, taking anything Sam dishes out, just to have him in his life, when Sam could care less about him.

Like I said in my post, the core of the show is just gone. :-(

WORD.

For me the downward spiral began with a certain new character which I know you love but for me he started to destroy all of what made me addicted and fangirling like a teenager. And not only my show wasn´t what I loved to soak up anymore but fandom changed as well - all of a sudden my places to go and read fanfic were full of D/C stories where there used to be the most amazing h/c stories about the brothers. I mostly stopped reading but continued to watch just for those rare moments of good old storytelling. And JENSEN :-))) Nowadays there are no downloads working for me, so no more watching at all. MISS MY SHOW :-((

Even though we both have different reasons for not watching it’s still really sad for both of us.

There’s just no coming back from how he continually treats Dean, the horrible things he says to him, leaving him in Purgatory, etc. There’s never an apology from him, ever. And I’m also sick of the way they’ve turned Dean into Sam’s whipping boy, taking anything Sam dishes out, just to have him in his life, when Sam could care less about him.

I know what you're talking about! The show changed completely when the angels were introduced, but I still enjoyed season 4 and 5. Then everything changed again and now the show is just a shadow of itself. They should have just ended it like Kripke intended and maybe started a spin-off back then. Of course fans would have been mad, but at least we would have had the memory of an awesome show. I know that I'll never be able to stop watching it (unless Jensen and/or Jared leaves since Dean's moping would be unbearable, I'm not a fan of Sam either), but I just accepted that it's my least favorite show most of the time.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and watch seasons 1-5 for the first time again.

i've always been a sam girl! i dont know what it is but i've always been a sam girl!
and i kinda like what is is now. and yes, the core brotherhood is not that pure and there anymore but i feel this reflects real life more.

Sorry you lost interest in Supernatural. My friend, a big Jensen
fan, also shares your opinion. Guess I don't have that much of a vested
interest. I am enjoying this season and think Jensen has had some very good episodes. But as I said I only started watching because of ann_tara.

I am still so sad you stopped watching! The fight they had is actually playing out organically, like a really bad fight would in life. The harsh edges of the anger are gone and the reasons are blurring. Last couple of episodes have been fantastic! I know the boys will regain their close relationship and I am enjoying the hell out of the ride right now!

I loved this show more than any other, but it lost me in Season 4, for the exact reason you said. I always said that if they got over the whole destruction of the brother's relationship thing, I'd start watching again - I never have. So sad.

Same here. I made it until season five, then it all started going downhill rapidly with the constant fighting and lying between Sam and Dean. The show should have ended with S5 with Kripke’s original vision.

It’s been bittersweet, watching all these S1 episodes every night, remembering how much I loved it, then turning sad knowing what it’s become.

CRY!!!! YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT!!!!, I think, from the last season I just saw one episode, and another one forwarding it. Just, I couldn't tolerate that that thing is a incredible crap and well, the presidnt from the Cw said that while it has viwers it will be on air ::S:SS::S:S:

I don´t know how Jared and Jensen, can keep with the show, they are going to destroy their career, because they will be always attachaed to a show that is a small network. It must be difficult to find a job and that that show can have many seasons. But they have to grew up artistically with other stuff, not just with the stupid show.

But I guess, now that they have family to mantain they don't want to be in a unstable financial situation

I’m sure it’s not an easy decision for them to make. Being on a show for 10 years is a long, long time. And both of them have had to give up other opportunities because of SPN. But like you said, they’ve had a stable job for 10 years, which is a heck of a lot more than most actors can say.
