The weekend wrap-up

It was SO FREAKING COLD this weekend that I never even left the house. It was literally 11 degrees and felt like 7 degrees on Sunday. Are you kidding me?? It's not even December yet! So I hibernated in with good books and good TV.

Let's see:

• Finished reading the first paperback book based on Grimm, called The Icy Touch. It wasn't bad. But they went a bit over the top with bringing in like, 42 different kind of Wesen. That was a bit much.

• Started a new m/m romance called Transgressions by Erastes. While I'm enjoying the relationship between Jonathan and David, I'm struggling a bit with the language. It's set in 1642 England and Jonathan is a Puritan and only speaks in sentences like, "Dost thou not…" etc.

• Got caught up on Sleepy Hollow (loved the twist with finding out who the Horseman is!) and White Collar (really tired of the secrets between Neal and Peter year after year after year). I'm also watching Strike Back: Origins, a six part "prequel" to the Scott and Stonebridge series I really like. But man, Origins couldn't be more different if it tried! The only similarities between the two are that it's two guys working for Section 20. That's it. I expected a partnership/friendship between Porter and Collinson like Scott and Stonebridge but instead Porter and Collinson pretty much hate one another. I'm not surprised this only lasted one season in the UK because it's just not enjoyable to watch. But I'm sticking with it for the final episode to see how Porter ended up in the premiere of the Scott and Stonebridge series.

• Watched that 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who. While I'm not a Who fan, I'm fast becoming a David Tennant fan after Broadchurch. My good friend Adam is a major Who fan, and I've learned many things from him over the years, so I wasn't as lost watching Day of the Doctor as I thought I'd be. And by the end I had decided I'm going to hunt down Tennant's episodes. :-)

• Started watching Arrow and have seen the first 3 eps of season one. I didn't watch it when it first premiered because I can't stand Katie Cassidy. But my buddy [livejournal.com profile] charityflint is a fan and keeps saying good things about it so I decided to give it a shot. So far so good! Though Katie is still a horrible actress.

• The only thing that marred my weekend was the utter failure of my first author interview. Lorraine and I worked really hard on that extensive interview and with the exception of two of my friends (yes I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] cadia58 and [livejournal.com profile] celtprincess13!) I didn't receive one comment from a new follower. What disappointed me the most was that up until this point I've found the Dreamspinner author list to be extremely supportive but I didn't receive one comment from anyone there, either. I'm honestly really crushed. I had expected my fellow authors to check me out and I was convinced it would be a huge boost to my pre-order sales. Instead I'm crushed that people could care less about me. Doesn't bode well for when my book actually goes on sale next week.

If it helps, the Katie Cassidy fans have been REALLY pissed about how little screen time she's getting in S2 and how her character has been shoved into the background.

The rest of us are okay with that, though! ;)

LOL! At first I thought I’d offended you with my comment about Katie. :-) Thanks for the great info! I’m a much bigger fan of Felicity and I’ve only seen her in two eps so far, so I hope that means we’ll see more of her if it’s less of Katie.
