Another Monday? Already? [sigh]

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed? I'm at that point right now and it's totally my fault.

I'm reading/editing/giving feedback on three stories for three friends, all at the same time. I'm also doing art for a fandom friend and graduation invitations for an RL friend.

While all this is going on, I'm trying to get through MY edits that my editor has sent back on my new ebook - all 209 pages of it. PLUS I'm trying to get my own artwork done for the cover of the ebook.

I've also got 40+ comments that I need to answer back. And my vacation to Colorado is coming up in a few weeks and I've got things to take care of for that.

I'm just...I'm frazzled.

And like I said, it's all my fault because I don't know the word "no". But it really means a lot when my friends come to me and ask for my advice or help or creative talents. They could've asked anyone, but they asked me. And I just can't turn them down, no matter how busy I am. And it's not like it's a chore to read someone's story or do a piece of slash artwork. :-) I love it! I just wish I could pace things a little better.

So on Saturday I buckled down and worked pretty much all damn day and got everything done but answering back all my LJ comments, which I'll get to today.

I rewarded myself on Sunday by being a complete slug, which worked out well because it was so damn HOT outside I wasn't going anywhere. Ended up watching the season finales of CSI, The Mentalist and Fringe off the DVR.

After lunch and taking a minute to help John hang some pictures around the house we've been meaning to get to for months, I parked myself in the recliner and read for the remainder of the day. I read a Hardy Boys book, a Star Wars book, and got halfway through On Fire 2: Still Burning by Drew Zachary (lots of hot firemen sex! Woot!)

I also finished book four in the Cal Leandros series, Deathwish. If you're a Supernatural fan and you're not reading this series, you should be! I found this book to be particularly interesting because the previous three were told completely from Cal's first person POV, but in Deathwish, the chapters alternate between Cal's POV and his brother Niko's. I thought that was a great decision on Rob Thurman's part. It really showed just how deep the brother's bond is. I was hoping this was going to continue in the fifth book, but based on the reviews on Amazon the chapters alternate between Cal and Catcher instead. I'm already bummed knowing that. She had a good formula there and I wish she hadn't of changed it. :-(

So here it is, Monday already. It should be a good day, because the boss is gone until Wednesday. :-)

How was YOUR weekend, my dear flist?

All the time, darling, all the time. And I also spent my weekend being a slug because it was raining and just sucked the life right out of me.

I need to get these books you are reccing-my TBR pile is very slight right at the moment.

You're going to Colorado? Fun! Where? When? Can I have a postcard?

The humidity was so high here yesterday (and today) that it should just rain and get it over with.

Yes! You totally need to read the Cal Leandros books. It's more than quite apparent the brothers are based on Sam and Dean. :-) And yeah, for hot sex I recommend anything by Drew Zachary, Tory Temple, James Lear or Chris Owen. *g*

Yep! We're going to Estes Park, June 18-23, to an all-inclusive dude ranch. Ride 'em, cowboy! And of course you can have a postcard! :-)

God, how do you do this??? Not only this buttload of work but still finding time to read...how many books in how many hours??? Your days seem to have 36 hours while mine are over after 12....

Here it is Monday as well, which normally would make me sigh, but since it´s a holiday it´s a lovely day for a change and the week is pleasantly short :-)))

Enjoy your "bossless" time and I´m sure you´ll accomplish all your projects with a smile!!

LOL! I've always been an extremely fast reader, ever since I was a kid. The Hardy Boys and Star Wars books weren't long, maybe a hundred pages, so I was through those pretty quickly. And I was halfway done with Deathwish already. And On Fire 2 is a pretty quick read, since most of the plot is the two guys having sex in as many different ways as possible. :-)

Well lucky you! A holiday! I hope you enjoy it. I guess it's kind of a holiday for me since my boss is gone. :-)

and I´m sure you´ll accomplish all your projects with a smile!!

Ha! Yeah, that's one thing about all the projects I take on - none of them are unpleasant!

Monday's suck!
I was really hot here too and I stayed outside most of the time walking, sitting up the park and near a local river. I don't normally like hot weather but it was good. I must have been making the most of it becasue it won't last. Lol!
I think as long as you take care of the most important stuff first and then tackle the rest at your own pace, people will understand.

There should really always be three day weekends so we could just skip right over Monday. :-)

That sounds nice! Wish we had a river around here to go sit at. If the humidity wasn't so high it would be nice to be outside, but when you sweat just standing still it's not very pleasant. *g*

I think as long as you take care of the most important stuff first and then tackle the rest at your own pace, people will understand.

It's usually not this crazy, thankfully. Everyone just decided to be creative all at once! :-)

Oh sweetie,
yep I also know how you feel, I can't say no if someone asks me for a favor or help either no matter how busy I am myself, but sometimes you really have to put your needs first and I'm sure everybody will understand that.
My colleagues and I at work have come across an ad for an insurance company that is pretty popular here at the moment and we decided to make it our motto ... :o)
Maybe if you have a little time after work, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4h0CqCV4vo
So just slow down and take it easy my friend, especially with the boss being out of the way. *hugs*

Hey you!

It's kinda like at work, too. People know I get stuff done, so I'm constantly being asked to help with projects, etc.

but sometimes you really have to put your needs first and I'm sure everybody will understand that.

Ha! I totally agree! Let's just all slow down, shall we? *g*

So just slow down and take it easy my friend, especially with the boss being out of the way.

I'll gladly take your advice, sweetie!

So...wanna beta something for me?

Kidding! I kid! Now, say it with me--"No."

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! YesYesYes!

Oh...wait. I wasn't supposed to say that, was I? ;-)

[identity profile] sonicbookmark.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know the word "no".

AND YOU'VE GOT THE MARKS ON YOUR ASS TO PROVE IT.

WE NEED TO ESTABLISH YOUR SAFE WORD FIRST!

THAT'S ONLY GOING TO MAKE ME SPANK YOU HARDER CAUSE YOU KNOW MERLIN LIKES IT ROUGH.

IT'S ALREADY BEEN BROUGHT!

Busy woman

[identity profile] winchesterwoman.livejournal.com 2010-05-27 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
With this you are telling me that you are such a great friend, helping your friend even when you almost die of be tired. That's bad! You have to look for your self and later for your friend. if that person is real friend they will understand. I don't want to see the day you have to say no so angry because you are done with so much stuff to do and no time to do it. just, put the things in a balance and do the best. some times is good to say no, because you are not saying not as a bad person, you are sating it because you are a human! so take care of you and your friend will understand, and you start to understand that you are not a super hero. you are a human being.

But I want to be a super hero! With a cape and everything. :-)

It's usually not this bad. My friends just all decided to be creative and ask for help all at once! But I ended up getting everything sorted out and got everyone's projects done and I'm no longer stressed out. *g*
