Ratings for Sympathy for the Devil

From Marc Berman at the Programming Insider:

Vampire Diaries - 4.91 million
Supernatural - 3.39 million
America's Next Top Model - 3.24 million
90210 - 2.44 million
Melrose Place - 2.31 million
One Tree Hill (repeat) - 1.13 milion
Gossip Girl (repeat) - 858,000

Holy cow, I never expected Vampire Diaries to pull those kinds of numbers!

Marc gave Supernatural a "disappointing" review, as retention out of Vampire Diaries was only 67%, and last year's season premiere drew 3.96 million. Personally, I don't think VD is a good lead-in for Supernatural. I think Smallville was more compatable.

Once Smallville gets started (Sept. 25) I'll be updating the ratings on Monday to reflect where SV falls in the ratings list.

WELL

If vampire daries is a new show of course it will have more audience than a show already known. and what you meant with " good lead in"?

Exactly, I mean even I tuned in to VD see what the hype was all about. A good lead in is a show that's compatible with Supernatural. Like Smallville always was. It's the same type of audience that watches both shows, so you keep a lot of the same viewers from SV to SPN. But VD skews to a much younger audience (teenage girls, mostly) that's not as interested in SPN, so we lost a lot of viewers. :-(

mmm

Well both shows are almost the same about surreal things and supernatural has lots of young girls. So I don“t think so that it could affect too much
