Pork rinds? How do you peel a pig?
Last night's Leverage episode, The Tap-Out Job, was made of win for it's Eliot-centric focus. I love the glimpses into each character's past we get as the series progresses and we delved pretty deep into Eliot with this one.
Here are a few thoughts of mine on the episode...
Oh, before that I had to share that I had a dream last night that I was dancing with Christian Kane. :-) He was performing at some really small, intimate place, with like only 30 people. He finished singing, came and sat next to me on this couch, then asked me to dance. It was really nice! I woke up with a smile on my face. :-)
Right off the bat we've got the hysterical wrestling match with Parker and Hardison. LOL! Loved it! Especially with Hardison's running commentary asking to be let go, and yet still answering a question while in that, shall we say...suggestive choke hold. Ha!
The fixed golf balls were a hoot! Hardison looked like a little kid with a remote control car. :-)
At first I thought Eliot (aka Kid Jones) was going to have to fight all 12 guys in that alley!
I thought Chris did an excellent job in the scene in the fight promoter's office. It's rare that we see Eliot play anyone but a tough guy, but Chris did a fantastic job of making Kid Jones look kinda vulnerable and insecure.
Nice twist having the gang's con be exposed and have them have to really, really think on their feet. I was wondering what the heck they were gonna do!
I honestly can't say enough about Chris's acting last night. I've always loved Eliot, but last night had me totally invested in his journey. All his talk about fighting and needing to be in control, opening up to Sophie like that - it was our first real glimpse into what Eliot's life was like, where he came from, and how he ended up in the life he has now. Excellent, excellent job, Chris.
I truly hate MMA fighting, but god DAMN Eliot makes it sexy! LOL! Eliot (and Chris!) were totally in their element in this episode and I thank the writers for pulling in part of Chris's real life. Eliot in full fighter mode was awesome!
And it was good writing that had me believing that Eliot's water was drugged! But when the doctor jumped in the ring I remembered he was related to their client and I knew the con was back on. :-)
Ok, what was with the saxaphone in the trunk with the guns?? LOL!
All in all, another great episode and one I know I'll be watching many, many times, like I've done with The Two-Horse Job and The Wedding Job.
On a side note, does anyone else think Gina Bellman is pregnant? Her face is much heavier than last season, and the way they're filming her, hiding her waist most of the time has me think she's expecting.
So, what did YOU guys think of The Tap-Out Job? :-)

On July 7, 2009 Bellman announced that she is expecting a baby.
Right again oh brilliant one!

Glad you liked it, too, sweetie! Everyone did a great job as always, but Chris really shined. :-)
Thank you for the info on Gina! Big congrats to her. *g*

Actually, like you, I really loved the whole ep. I liked that we got to see a little bit more of Eliot's past and that he showed some serious vulnerability in some of the scenes. I think that kind of thing really shows off Christian's talent.
Although I'm much of the same opinion as Sophie--"You call that a sport?, it was cool that they pulled that aspect of Chris. And it was neat to see him fight, even if I'll never understand the appeal of watching men beat the shit out of one another. And we got shirtless Chris in the bargain-who can argue with that?????
Someone else speculated that Gina might be expecting, so I'm thinking yes. And especially since I noticed she looks 'different' from last season, although I didn't quite put my finger on the fuller face as the reason. You're right though.
All in all, I loved it and will def. watch it again. Especially since my friend who was watching it with me would not.stop.talking.omg!

The "help me" about killed me! LOL! I loved the look on Parker's face the whole time. :-)

Oh, absolutely. We've only ever really seen the tough guy persona that Eliot has, so it was nice to see Chris give a more emotional performance last night. And he did it well!

Even after Eliot's explanation as to why these guys fight I'll never truly understand it, either. Chris without the shirt was a major bonus!

Yep, I found out from a friend that she announced on July 7th that she's expecting. Congrats to her!

God, I hate people talking though my shows more than anything! But now you've got an excuse to watch sweaty, half naked Chris again. :-)

The fight scene in the alley just started to make me purr. Eliot is such a bad ass. But the ending fight scene about killed me with the beating he took. But then when Sophie said, "That's what he does." about the beating, the look on Eliot's face made me melt. *sigh* I so need an icon with that face. Maybe I can find a still-shot.
Leverage just gets better and better every week.
edited for the 4th time, maybe I should just comment again. LOL
Congrats to Bellman on the baby!!!

Chris was in amazing form last night. From the fight scenes to the more emotional ones he was right on the money. And yes, the look on his face! [swoon]
Yep, so far we're two for two with great episodes!
Ha! So yep, Gina IS pregnant! Good for her! But now we know that's why we're getting Jeri Ryan, 'cause Gina will be off for several eps, probably.

I was on the floor with this sequence! In fact, I watched it twice so I could listen to Hardison's running dialogue while Nate and the rest were talking over him. By the tim Hardison got to the final "she's killing me" I was laughing so hard no sound was coming out!
And being a WWE wrestling nerd, the triangle choke hold Parker was using was a modified version of the "Devil's Triangle" used most effectively by The Undertaker on SmackDown!.
<<I thought Chris did an excellent job in the scene in the fight promoter's office. It's rare that we see Eliot play anyone but a tough guy, but Chris did a fantastic job of making Kid Jones look kinda vulnerable and insecure.>>
This was one of my most favorite scenes in the episode. Chris used body language to the max to project the vulnerability and insecurity of someone who knows his life is not completely under his control. Think of Dr Jackson from the early SG1 days and his habit of tucking his hands into his armpits. Chris' was much more subtle and for me much more powerful for it.
<<I honestly can't say enough about Chris's acting last night. I've always loved Eliot, but last night had me totally invested in his journey. Another stand out scene for me. Especially when you consider how hurt Eliot was by Sophie's betrayal in the "First/Second David Job" episodes. I was amazed that he opened up to her like that even though we know a lot of time has passed. Eliot does not seem to be a person to let betrayal go very easily.
<<I truly hate MMA fighting, but god DAMN Eliot makes it sexy! LOL! Eliot (and Chris!) were totally in their element in this episode and I thank the writers for pulling in part of Chris's real life. Eliot in full fighter mode was awesome!>>
And he looked damned good doing it, too! I never thought anyone could be as sexy as my Phil (another wrestling nerd reference) in kickboots but I was seriously drooling during the scene where he had the kickboots on and was practicing in the ring!
<<Ok, what was with the saxaphone in the trunk with the guns?? LOL!>>
My first thought with the saxaphone was that it was like the watermelon in the "Buckaroo Banzai" movie. It was tossed out there and never explained. Such a Parker thing to do!

Like you, I'll be watching this one several times! =)
Eliot + kickboots = **~~THUD!!~~**

John hadn't seen it, so I watched it again with him last night, and all I focused on was Hardison this time. ROTFL! His little "help me" was priceless!

I'd say that was a pretty...suggestive position they were in, don't you? ;-)

I loved that scene, too! It was something we'd never seen Eliot project before in a con and Chris did a fantastic job.

I was a bit surprised, too, at how openly he talked to her several times. Because he seemed to easily be the one most hurt by her behavior last season. Maybe times heals all wounds, eh?

LOL! Like Eliot explaining why Parker was dressed like a nun to Nate, "because it's Parker." Ha!

I couldn't agree more!!
