What's your favorite funny SPN episode?

In the comments of my TV Guide watercooler post about Hollywood Babylon, several folks commented that they either liked HB, Tall Tales or Hell House as their favorite funny episode of Supernatural.[Poll #972321]

In answering my own poll, I liked Hell House the best, because I loved Sam and Dean just being brothers and screwing around with each other. It was funny and it gave us a glimpse into what they were like as kids, when they had the time to just be kids.

And it scores bonus points for giving us half-naked Sammy. Hee!

Dude, yes, for all the reasons you mentioned. *cough*Especially nekkid!Sammy*cough*

"Did you do this?"
"Oh, yeah."
"You're a friggin' *JERK*."

Love love LOVE that ep so much :)

That's tough! I mean Tall Tales was the funniest episode but I voted for Hell House because the boys themselves had so much fun in this one and I love it when they are happy :D

That's why I went with Hell House, too. :-)

Sam in a towel trumps everything else.

haha i guess i'm not all fangirl. the truth is hell house bored me when it wasn't about sam and dean. tall tales on the other hand was funny all over. and that's what i voted for, the laughter. hell house was just cute.

I love hearing everyone's reasons for their favorites. It's usually wide and varied, which is great for getting discussion going!

Don't get me wrong. I loved Hollywood Babylon....hell, fanboy!Dean was funny as shit. Tall Tales...I probably laughed through the whole episode. I mean...Purple Nurples, wrestling brothers, emo!Sam at his best. BUT....

nothing can beat Hell House. It was the first funny episode we ever got. They were brothers, playing pranks on each other. "I think that midget stripper gave me herpes" anyone???? Just thinking about the first scene with Dean and Sam in the Impala...hilarious. And of course half naked Sam....the first glimpse on he Adonis like body. I am a Dean!girl but Sam...that body....guh!!! So yeah...fangirl much?!

And yeah, I voted for Hell House if that shouldn't have been obvious *LOL*

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2007-04-24 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean...Purple Nurples, wrestling brothers,

Yes, two VERY good reasons why I enjoyed Tall Tales. :-)

They were brothers, playing pranks on each other.

And that's exactly why I picked Hell House as my favorite funny episode as well. Sam and Dean have had a very serious life, since childhood, and to know that sometimes, just sometimes they were able to just be brothers and screw with each other and to have it pop up again, give us a little glimpse of that - yeah, that's why I love Hell House.

Just thinking about the first scene with Dean and Sam in the Impala...hilarious.

Oh good lord, I HAVE to rewind that at least twice before letting the rest of the episode play, every time I watch it. LOL!

And of course half naked Sam....the first glimpse on he Adonis like body. I am a Dean!girl but Sam...that body....guh!!! So yeah...fangirl much?!

Gah, me, too!! I nearly fell of my CHAIR when he came out of the bathroom! Damn, Sammy, what've you been hiding under all those layers all this time?? Hee!

AMEN to that

remember when his chest muscles twitched??? OMG...I was about to lick the damn screen. I don't know how many time I have seen this scene already

Oh good lord, I HAVE to rewind that at least twice before letting the rest of the episode play, every time I watch it. LOL!

Me too, me too...saw it way too many times. but that look on Sam's face and Dean singing...that was just too much for my poor heart

and btw....love your icon. so damn true LOL

I choose Hell House. 'Cause really the boys just acted like immature brats, which made me laugh all the way through the episode.

And really, do you need a better reason to like Hell House? :-)

This is kind of difficult for me to say, because I really really loved TT and HB, but I liked HH best because it wasn't at all self-referential. But that's kind of weird because I really did love seeing the brothers from each other's POV in TT, and the in-jokes in HB, yet when I compare them, the reason I liked HH best is the lack of that! And that's even discounting half-nekkid Sammy!

But I really liked that all of the jokes/pranks in HH were aimed at each other, not at the audience.

*shrug*

That was my reason, too, for picking Hell House - the jokes were just between the two of them. :-)

The funny antics was about the boys just being siblings, and it was hilarious and nice to see.

That's why I liked Hell House the best as well. It was the first time we ever saw them being goofy with each other, just for the hell of it (pardon the pun) and it was so different and refreshing that it's become one of my most re-watched episodes. :-)

I hated Tall Tales with a passion. It actually made me detest Dean as a character.

So my choice came down to Hell House and Hollywood Babylon.

I adored PA!Dean and loved all the meta. I'm big into shows that self reference as that's a big payoff for me being a regular viewer. Sadly Sam was a pale shadow of himself in HB, totally understandable imo, but it left a Sam sized hole in the episode.

In HH, towelclad!Sam made me all squishy and happy, despite me being a Dean!girl. Plus the story seemed to hang together better and fit in the arc of the season comfortably despite being completely different in tone.

Thus I voted for Hell House. Tra la la!!!!

Oh gosh, really??

I enjoy that, too, but I thought that there were maybe just a tad too many inside jokes in HB and they kinda started to lose impact as the show went on.

but it left a Sam sized hole in the episode.

Yep, Sam was pretty much MIA in HB, wasn't he? :-( I really don't like it when the brothers are separated for a good part of the episode.

In HH, towelclad!Sam made me all squishy and happy, despite me being a Dean!girl

LOL! Yes, me, too! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. :-)

Thus I voted for Hell House. Tra la la!!!!

Thanks for voting and for the reason behind your choice!

Sam's view of Dean wasn't too bad but the way they portrayed Dean's view of Sam just hit a nerve for me. Where was the love and affection? It was way to negative and derogatory of his brother. Shrug. I know they were exaggerating for effect but, sheesh, there was definitely a streak of homophobia there and I don't see that in Dean at all.

Obviously, other people's mileage will vary!

I chose HH simply because I haven't seen the other 2 episodes. And HH was really hilarious, what with the TAPS boys and all those sweet, sweet pranks!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2007-04-25 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Well, that made voting easy for you! I'll be curious to know if your opinion changes after you've seen the other two. :-)

I love them all pretty much equally, but I have to say that other than the alien and the "blah blah blah" bits in TT, it's my least favourite of the three. But I selected HB on this because I'm a writer and my degree is in theatrical/screen design and production, so I probably got a ton more of what was going on in the episode than a lot of people.

Ah, no wonder it was your favorite then! Makes sense. :-) Thanks for voting!

I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything, there are just a bunch of little tiny things going on in the background that amused me.

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, not arrogant at all! I think it's neat that you had even more inside jokes and things to be amused by. :-)

[identity profile] jainadurron.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I was laughing so hard the first time I watched that I had to watch it again to catch the rest of the dialogue. I see new stuff every time. I keep thinking I need to compile a list, but some of it's probably only funny to a theatre geek like me.
