Supernatural - spoilers up for episode 20

We're gettin' down to the last few episodes here, people! Woot!

Only one page of sides was released, for a character called Carmen for the episode titled "What Is and What Should..." and since SpoilerFix did a great job of summing it up, here ya go:

Episode 2.20: What Is and What Should
Airdate: 5/3 (tentative)

From SpoilerFix:

Dean is attacked by a Djinn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djinn), which warps his reality when it touches him. He wakes in a Lawrence, Kansas apartment next to a woman named Carmen. When he calls Sam to report, the exasperated little brother accuses Dean of drunk-dialing him (hearing 'gin' instead of 'djinn') and tells him to sleep it off. After hanging up on him, Sam returns to his research books - which include a law school textbook.

Ok, so is this the beginning of the "Dean arc" that Kripke was talking about?  And I'm also nervous that perhaps THIS is the episode that John will be in and not the season finale, like I was hoping.  We know Eric said no flashbacks, but since this is warped reality, it stands to reason that John would still be alive in this universe.  Please, please, Eric! I want Sam and Dean to march into Hell to save John instead!

What do you guys think of this summary?  I think it sounds interesting and I'm glad it's a creature that we haven't yet seen on SPN. And man, if John is in this episode, can you imagine the Dean angst when he sees his father again??

Sounds very interesting :) Me likey, can't wait to see this. Anything that has 'Dean' centric I like though *pouts, I do love my Sammy too though* Grins :) JD

Things have gotten more interesting with new spoilers that were released this morning. I made a new post with them in my LJ today. Check it out - the eps taking a turn that I'm not sure if I'm happy with. Hmmm....

It'll be so sad to see the Dean angst involved if John is in this episode. I'm really excited for this one though. :)

And "Dean arc"? When did Kripke mention that?

Eric talked about a Dean story line in his latest interview with tvguide.com:

Kripke: Well, first of all, stay tuned. There's the beginning of a major Dean story line in the season finale two-parter.

So perhaps this episode sets things in motion. We'll have to see!

Oohh, yeah, I never got around to reading that interview.

Now I'm super excited for the last three eps. But sad because that means the seasons almost over. :(

I know! Can you believe how fast the season is flying by, since coming back from winter hiatus??

Boy, these upcoming episodes just sound better and better, don't they? Two things stand out to me here - 1) why do they stress the fact that Sam has a law school textbook, and 2) Dean is in Lawrence, Kansas. I wonder if this is where the Lawrence folklore comes in that Kripke mentioned before - the fact that he chose Lawrence because one of the seven "gateways to hell" is located near there. Coincidence? I don't think Kripke does coincidence.

Thanks for posting this, Barb. I think we are going to see John in hell - and being released from it by his boys. And since they are back in Lawrence, wouldn't it be great if we saw Missouri again?

It could very well be! I thought it might be in the two-part finale, but yeah, we might get some hint of it here, instead.

And since they are back in Lawrence, wouldn't it be great if we saw Missouri again

Oh, I would so love that! I got to read six more pages of the script tonight, and Mary is definitely in it, Dean talks with her. It's says she is of course 20+ years older than when we saw her in the pilot, so I wonder if it will still be the same actress, with make up to look aged.

You know, I'm beginning to think that John may not be in this. In those pages Dean is telling Carmen that whatever "he's" done, he can fix it, that he'll make it up to Sam and Mom and Carmen. He never once mentions John, which I thought was odd. Why wouldn't he say "mom and dad" in that sentence?

YAY new sides!

It sounds like it could be amazing! Just HOW much is different? If Sam is in law school, then he made his interview which makes me assume that Jess is still alive. And it would be a way to bring John back without having him be a ghost or be in flashback or whatever, though I'm with you in hoping that they'll REALLY bring him back so he can still be a part of the series. I wonder if Mary's still alive? IF they bring John back in this ep, AND Mary's still alive it could be a totally different John! A sweet cuddly Daddy John! And is this all going on in Dean's head, or has everything really been changed? If everything has really been changed then that would mean that Caleb and Pastor Jim would still be alive, though they might not know them. And will it have to be Dean's choice whether to put things back or not?

Now this is an interesting idea, Dairwendan, and one I would love to see. Dean is imagining what life would have been like if the demon never entered their lives? It would explain the emphasis on Sam's law text book that I wondered about. Might be when we learn what happened with Mom, etc. I like this a lot, and it's something I could see Kripke, et al., doing.

Great idea!

But now with the new spoiler info and info on what a Djinn does (I’m not familiar with them) it looks like Dean’s wish kind of backfires on him! Mary, John and Sam get a great life while his is awful!

which makes me assume that Jess is still alive.

Holy cow, I totally forgot about Jess! Geez, this episode could be a freaking reunion episode!

though I'm with you in hoping that they'll REALLY bring him back so he can still be a part of the series

Yes, please! I don’t want to see John “wasted” in a stand-alone episode.

I wonder if Mary's still alive? IF they bring John back in this ep, AND Mary's still alive it could be a totally different John! A sweet cuddly Daddy John!

Oh, I’m definitely thinking that Mary is alive. Her not dying would be the catalyst that changes everything.

And is this all going on in Dean's head, or has everything really been changed?

Now that I don’t have a clue about!

And will it have to be Dean's choice whether to put things back or not?

Since he’s the one that had the initial contact with the Djinn, I’m thinking yeah, it’ll be up to him to either set it right or stay in this new reality.

Sam and Jess were so cute together, I'd like to see them again, just a glimpse!

The phrase "warps his reality" in the description is what makes me wonder if it is real or just in Dean's head.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.
