Supernatural Exclusive: Jensen Ackles on the Season Finale and What He Wants Next!

We ran into Supernatural's Jensen Ackles on the golf course (his preferred habitat!) and couldn't resist asking him about the finale... and what comes next! Check out what he has to say about the brothers reunited and what he wants us to see come Sept. 10:

I couldn't agree more with what you want for next season, Jensen! It's all about the brothers!

People who turn against Sam aren't true fans in my opinion, they're pure fans of Dean only and that's not the kind of fan I want for this show. Both boys made mistakes this season and as a Sam girl i'm not excusing anything nor am I excusing Dean, primarily we should ALL be brothers girls before all else no one should ever turn on either boy. Sam and Dean against the world.

I do have to admit that I've never disliked Sam more than this season and it's been painful to watch his descent. And I do think he has a lot of apologizing to do to Dean. But it comes down to BOTH of them needing to heal and get back to truly being brothers again.

P.S. - love your icon!

I think its because Sam's had to make really freaking tough decisions this season compared to any other, at the start of the season he'd had to survive for months without Dean, with his brother dead and nobody letting him trade himself for Dean and he had to last through that and I think it changed him, it broke him in a massive way. At the risk of sounding like a total Sam girl which I am, he did nothing to make me really think he was out of line except the fight where he was strangling Dean and then I thought he was out of line, other than that I could be behind his reasoning every step of the way.

However the two of them together always trump either seperately for me, I adore Sam to death but without Dean he's half as awesome and without Sam I feel exactly the same about Dean, they are two halves of an awesome hole.

I love my icon too, its SO how it should always be.

"he did nothing to make me really think he was out of line except the fight where he was strangling Dean ... other than that I could be behind his reasoning every step of the way."

lol- for me that was minor-I didn't start yelling "you stupid *&*%$#!" until the last half of Lucifer Rising, and I wasn't thouroughly disgusted with him until Lilith herself was egging him on to kill her, with Dean yelling audibly in the background, and he *did it anyway*

Yeah, no. Dude, when ALL the demons want you to do something, DON'T.
That's all there is to that.
Dean gets a little bit of fail spattered on him for just yelling "Sam", & not continuing with the important information. But, what it really comes down to is-Sam made very stupid choices, despite bigass clues all over the place, and the failure is his.
Of course Dean will forgive him, and so do I, but naturally this failure is going to mess him up bigtime.
Because this time? It really is his fault.
And a hurting Sam is a stupid Sam.
:(

I'd agree but since all Sam had to go on was the last knock down drag out fight which ended in him being called a monster and almost strangling his brother followed up by the you're a monster i'll kill you phonecall why would he stop just hearing Dean's voice. I agree Ruby played Sam hook line and sinker but all of them thought killing Lilleth would stop the final seal being broken so I wasn't going mad at him about that at all. Each to their own opinion I was mad when Dean punched him but a lot of people were all 'meh he deserved it' well neither gets a pass from me, they both made a lot of mistakes this season it's high time they learned that when they fight together the evil of the world trembles when they're apart the world itself falls down.

oh no, please don't misunderstand me- I don't blame Sam for not figuring it out as easily as I did- *I* saw all that coming because I'm sitting comfortably at home, etc.
But-my comment is about the character- Both boys are very very good people, generous and selfless, but neither is perfect. Certain kinds of pain can turn both stupid, selfish and cruel. They have different triggers-Sam's has always been his pride. Think about it- have you ever seen him lose it and lash out for any reason except guilt-i.e., his pride is hurt? (Well, ok, maybe 3-5% just pride:)
You can see him at the end of LR, figuring it out -the clues were there, and he missed them. He did things he *knew* he shouldn't, HE screwed up and *he* brought on the apocalypse.
It might NOT be his fault he missed the clues, but hindsight's 20-20, and can you really see him forgiving himself?
And when his pride is hurt, he's not nearly so nice. He can be ruthless and downright mean-he tried to leave Dean and hunting out of pride/guilt, tried to kill Bobby in Mystery Spot and dealt with demons because he'd failed Dean, his accusations in S&V were that Dean was holding him back out of jealousy...etc.
So, no, I really don't see happy brother bonding in the near future, or Sam getting better soon..IMO, That's just not in character. That's all I'm saying:)

I totally understand where you're coming from about Sam. Basically, for me, it comes down to the fact that he truly believed he was doing the wrong things for the right reasons and it's hard to fault him for that. And I know that Dean will come to see that. And I know that Sam will come to see that the things Dean did was all about trying to protect and save his brother from going down a dark path. They'll find their way back to each other, I'm sure of it.

they are two halves of an awesome hole.

My sentiments exactly! :-)
