I finally got a chance to speak with my favorite Winchester brother Sam, aka Jared Padalecki (check out the full interview here). And the adorable Padalecki spent the greater part of his lunch break chatting away with me about the show. How nice was that? We did get off topic a little bit and had a great discussion on video games (yeah, I'm a big video-game geek, too), and I think that while this isn't your typical Supernatural fare, it really shows off Jared's fun personality.
Enjoy!
TVGuide.com: Are you a video-game guy? We saw a little bit of you playing Guitar Hero against Smallville's Justin Hartley. Padalecki: I for sure love Guitar Hero. That's another thing I did this summer [see full interview for more on how he spent his summer vacation] between Season 1 and Season 2. I played Guitar Hero. So I owe it to myself to work this year. I do like video games, though. I have a Nintendo in my trailer, the original one, with Super Mario Brothers. It's old school, 8-bit or whatever you call it.
TVGuide.com: With those cartridges you have to blow on to get them to work? Padalecki: Yes! You know what I do? I cough on them, and then if you push it up and down a bunch of times it will work. I've been playing Contra, Jensen and I…. Sometimes I'm like, "In my trailer, now!" and he comes in and we spend 25 minutes and beat Contra. Now we can move on with the day now that we've saved the world from the Contra. I got a PS3 for Christmas and it has been in Texas, so I just called my mom and dad and asked if they would ship it out to me.
TVGuide.com: My advice to you is: don't by a Nintendo Wii or you'll lose another summer. Padalecki: Oh, really? Is it fun?
TVGuide.com: Yeah, it's addictive. And you can play all those old games. Padalecki: [Laughs] Oh, no. It's good that you warned me. And you have to move your hands around to mimic the motion right? I'm jealous. Maybe I'll just play one of my buddies or something so I don't actually own one. I'm afraid my dogs won't get fed or walked and they'll be pooping in the house.
