"There's a whole world out there of the paranormal," Dean Winchester told Weekly World News, and, as one half of a famous team of paranormal-hunters, he should know. Dean and his brother, Sam, have devoted their lives to the pursuit and destruction of the evil forces that, unknown to the rest of us, threaten our world. Weekly World News was instrumental in leading the Winchesters to one such menace at Springfield University (Weekly World News, Feb. 19, 2007). This dramatic series of events was portrayed on the Feb. 15 episode of Supernatural on The CW. Sam and Dean Winchester sat down to discuss this case and the unusual path their lives have taken. WWN: Thank you for taking time out of your important work to talk to Weekly World News. DEAN: Hey, no sweat. I'm a big fan of the paper. Been reading it ever since I was a kid. It's the world's number one authority on the weird and unexplained. SAM: And you really saved our butts on the last case... DEAN: That, too. WWN: Can you tell us what really happened at Springfield University? SAM: It started with a local legend -- a suicidal ghost haunting a campus building. Then there was an alien abduction... an alligator in the sewer attack... DEAN: Don't forget the chainsaw maniac... WWN: Sounds like the case was ripped from our headlines. SAM: Exactly. The killer was a Trickster, an immortal demigod that likes to stir up chaos and mischief with deadly pranks. Turns out the Trickster was creating all these things from thin air, based on articles he read in Weekly World News. WWN: Glad we could help stop that grisly killer. How did you become involved in this line of work? SAM: It's sort of the family business. Our dad raised us to be Hunters. DEAN: Raised me. You had other plans, right Sam? SAM: Well...I thought I'd go to law school, get married, have a normal life. DEAN: Boring. Believe me, he's better off being a Hunter. WWN: By 'Hunter' you mean? DEAN: We track the paranormal -- ghosts, monsters, you name it. Hunt it down and kill it... WWN: You're heroes. Does it ever bother you that most people never know how many lives you save? DEAN: No. We just do the job. SAM: Most folks wouldn't believe the danger they're in anyway. WWN: I'm sure our readers sleep better knowing you're out there, staying ahead of the weirdness... DEAN: So far so good. This exclusive Weekly World News interview concludes next week. For further adventures of Dean and Sam Winchester, watch Supernatural on The CW, every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST. |
