It sure was a good writer(s) who wrote that episode. It had Dean written all over it.
I believe it was Sera Gamble and Raelle Tucker who wrote this one. They made a great team!
I'll never forget watching that episode the first time (hmm... actually, only seen it once
Man, I have wore my DVD out for watching Faith so many times!
and seeing Dean just stand there in the Reaper's clutches and KNOWING why he wasn't putting up any defense.
Ok, see I am SO glad that you understood that, because to me, it was also totally obvious. But in conversation with other SPN fans about Faith, when I said that Dean wanted the Reaper to take his life, to save Layla because he felt so guilty, so unworthy of being saved, they all looked at me like I'd grown two heads! That hadn't even occured to them!
And I honestly can't remember reading another story, wincest or gen, that took the approach that I did, that Dean wanted to die and I thought it SO strange that no one had drawn the same conclusion that I did.
So many folks seem to be obsessed with Jared/Sam, but Dean is the one who fascinates me
Oh good god, me, too. I love Sam, too, but it's Dean that really strikes a chord with me. Has since episode one. Sam is pretty much an open book, but Dean has so many damn layers and watching those layers get peeled away these last two years has been facinating.
Oh, and I just love spending time in your LJ - just for the background images. ;)
Ha! Glad you enjoy! I try and rotate them around every so often. :-)
