HAPPY HALLOWEEN from Spooky the Witch!

While I'm putting together my SPN Chicago Con reports I thought you guys might like to see how I decorated my desk this year for Halloween:

A few more photos back here! )

I had so much fun last night! Got this flyer in the mail the other day advertising this program at the local library called City of Ghosts a "paranormal performance" by local historian William Pack. (http://www.williampack.com). It was a full page write up and it sounded really cool so I signed up for it, as there was a limit of 20 people.

It was this small room and all the lights were off except for these two orange spotlights that were shining up at the front. There was creepy music playing and a backdrop of a dark red velvet curtain with black lace. Very atmospheric!

William put on the most amazing performance for an hour and a half. He told what were basically interactive ghost stories, with audience participation, as it turns out he's also a slight of hand magician. He would start off a story then pick someone to come up and help him. And I'm telling you, I don't know how he did 90% of this stuff. It was like watching a mini version of David Copperfield!

I was lucky enough to get picked along with another woman and two men. It was a story about trick or treating. We were each given one of those "Hello My Name Is" badges and we were to write down any kind of Halloween costume. He went to the back of the room so he couldn't see what we were writing. Since we were talking ghost stories, I wrote down Casper the Friendly Ghost. He had one of the guys collect the badges and shuffle them up then put them face down on this little table. William then said that he would be able to correctly guess what everyone had written down. And I'll be damned if he didn't! By just us saying Yes or No or simply standing there in my case, he correctly identified all of us. Not only that, but the last guy left he didn't even look at the badge and told him what he had written down. And he was right! It was freaky! Not only that, but then he had us each pick up a treat bag at random. He said that the problem when people went trick or treating with him that only one person came back alive, and it was always him. We opened up our treat bags and sure enough we had ALL picked the "poisoned" candy bars and the last bag left on the table, for William, was the "non-poisoned" one. How the hell could that have happened when we all picked at random?? LOL!

He did other cool things, other mind games with the ghost stories that always left us laughing with "how did he do that??" At the end we did a seance, with all of us holding hands and trying to contact the spirit of this woman who was murdered back during the Depression. He had various objects of hers on the table, and with him sitting in the front row, first her photo tipped over and fell off the table and all the lights went out. Then the lights came back on and there was writing on this chalkboard that hadn't been there. Then this bell started ringing. Then he took this white handkerchief out of this wine glass and there was a "blood" stain on it when it had been completely white when he put it in the glass. SO. FREAKING. COOL.

The flyer summed it up best - "It's thought-provoking, funny and a little scary. It's a haunted house in your seat."

I couldn't agree more. :-)

Halloween is coming up fast, so that means time to decorate my cubicle at work! I've got a bigger space now, so that means I can buy a few more things. I headed off to the craft store and got some great stuff, but this by far was my favorite. I mean, c'mon, how could I not get this? LOL!

I love finding things with my "name" on them this time of year. :-)

One last post from me before I head off to the SPN convention. Had to post a pic of my pumpkin I finished decorating last night for the contest at work. I won last year with my "turkey" pumpkin, so wish me luck with....Franken-pumpkin!

What do you guys think? Do I stand a chance of repeating my victory? :-)

P.S. - thanks for voting in my poll yesterday about the photo op - DJ Qualls won by a landslide! You'll see my pic with him after the con!

It's that time of year again when I break out the Halloween/fall decorations and make my desk look all pretty. :-) This might be my last time decorating, though. Right now my cubicle is the first one in the row, right on the hallway, and everyone can see it and I get the nicest compliments. But we move into our new office building next month and my cube will then be the last in the row, all the way back by the windows, and I doubt anyone will be able to see my decorations. But I might just do it for myself, since it brightens things up.

But for now, here's my desk!

It's been a lively morning at the office, with a bunch of people having dressed up for Halloween. The International department is characters from Alice in Wonderland while our Outside Sales team is the Scooby Doo gang. :-). Me, I'm a cross between a pirate and a Musketeer!

Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope you guys have a fun holiday today. :-)  I'm going to work dressed as a pirate. I'll see if I can get one of my friends to snap a pic of me with my phone that I can post later on today.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] deanvica23 and [livejournal.com profile] morganslady for my cute blue spider virtual gifts and to the Anonymous person who gave me the virtual candy corn. How did you know that's my favorite Halloween candy ever? Yum!  And also thank you to [livejournal.com profile] adelheide for the Halloween card in the mail. {{HUGS}}
